-It's been really rainy here lately. I've been enjoying it because usually July gets too hot for my liking, and it's been nice and cool. Not to mention that we really need it, and it's been fun to watch it pour from inside the bakery where I work. What can I say, I like rain. And Alberta doesn't get a lot of rainy days like this.

Contemplations don't really go anywhere conclusive. Just so you know.

Contemplations on Lee Adama. Spoilery for whole series of Battlestar Galactica )

-In other news, life continues on. Work's calmed down, the summer anime season's left me in despair, and I study for my learners.

→ why I decided to play this character
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (headcanon)

→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow

-Work is proving to be quite stressful. I have to keep up the good work, or else I'm gone. Out of the people I knew when I started there (and not counting those that transfered from the branch that closed) Me and one other person are left. Everyone else "doesn't work there anymore" and only one will be offered their job back if they want it in September. Who knew you could get in such trouble working at a bakery. Although, I'm in the good books and I intend to stay there. Finding a job still looks like its proving difficult.

And that is currently life. I need to to study for my learner's. Even though it's late. 5 days or so until I take the test.

-Been contemplating this whole Michael Jackson thing. I heard about it over the radio at work, and it's kind of a shock. I mean...he was younger than my parents. I was never really an MJ fan, but he was just sort of someone that you knew, a name you recognized, like Elvis Presley or Paul McCartney. I liked a few of his songs. He went a little crazy at the end there, what with the dangling babies and the lawsuits,  but still, it kind of sucks.

-Saw Transformers 2 today. It was pretty much what I expected. Even more Giant Robots blowing even more stuff up. Although, this one actually had more plot to it, and I was really enjoying it (the backstory and everything was cool). And I was sort of able to tell Megatron and Starscream apart this time (During the first one I was having issues. All the Decepticons look the same to me). I found that several of the characters had more personality than in the first one, but I wish there could have been more focus on the other Autobots. Other than "Oh look, they're there, blowing stuff up." Oh and Rainn Wilson (Aka: Dwight Schrute from The Office) was in it, which surprised me. It was just a small part but I enjoyed it.

There is totally going to be a third movie.

In terms of the movies coming out, I think I'll be giving 2012 a miss (Not a fan of end of the world disastor flicks), although The Last Airbender does look cool, M. Night Shaylaman (sp?) aside. I haven't really seen a lot of Avatar, but it could be fun. Next year though.

BSG Miniseries was on tonight. I stayed up until 1:15 Am to watch the whole thing. And that is my excuse for not doing anything productive this evening.

Damn, you know, it never stops being awesome. I miss the show now. Like...more than before.

Also, Adama's last speech? Not so ironic anymore. It's still fun to reminisce about when Bill and Laura didn't like each other. Or when Tigh had two eyes.

On another note, apparently my Dad felt bad about my mp3 player being stolen. And so surprised me with an ipod. Needless to say I was a bit shocked, because I was totally prepared to buy it myself. So yeah...I have upgraded to a music-device with a screen. It's a nano, and it's blue (which I was pleasently surprised with, because I wanted blue). It's name is Leoben.

I'm going to go to bed now. My coherency is gone.

ETA: Kurtis, I did get your comment, even though it appears to have been deleted, but still, thank you for your offer.

So, I'm still kind of annoyed about the whole robbery, but what am I going to do? Aside from get kind of paranoid because they have a key to my house and could potentially get in. And be bothered by my lack of mp3 player. Perhaps this is a sign to upgrade to an ipod or something that has a screen.

Anyways, I'll stop moping about that now.

Gintama Review! )

Next up: D.Greyman or Shaman King. Whatever gets finished first.

And now I'm going to go flail over the fact that the BSG season 4 soundtrack comes out on July 21. Bear McCreary is determined to make me cry.

So, through a slightly odd chain of events, I ended up going to see Coldplay last night. It was a pretty good concert, I must say. (Despite the fact that I knew about 3 Coldplay songs. I know more now.) That Chris Martin is a pretty cool guy. And doing Viva La Vida live is really the only way to hear it. It was just crazy. The song started playing and the crowd went wild.

But that wasn't the crazy part.

My brother is a big Coldplay fan, and so he was going to the concert with his friend Ethan. (For the record, we had 4 tickets, My brother, Ethan, and my Dad were going, and there was a weird debacle with the 4th ticket that ended up going to me.) He and Ethan got there early, and had gotten shirts and were just hanging out. When this guy comes up to them and says that he's with the band, and that my Bro and Ethan look like pretty big fans. They start chatting, and then the guy asks what my brother's favorite song was. Jon replies Lovers in Japan, and the guy says that he'll give my bro something if he sings it. Jon sings a few bars, and he and Ethan end up with floor seats. They were sitting in the second row, about 20-25 feet away from the stage, and probably able to see up Chris Martin's nose. Lucky guys.

We also ran into Anna, Reid, and Graydon of the Woodman family (some of our friends), who had also attended the concert. And were also ten feet from the band because the band went at played out in the crowd for a bit. It was kind of crazy. Wish I had been there. (Where they were sitting.)

-On a less happier note, it looks like our car was broken into last night. All of my Dad's car registration and insurance information were stolen, as well as my work bag which had my house key, work key, parent's work key, and my mp3 player in it, as well some money, my waterbottle, and my apron. So, now we have to get our locks changed, and well, it just generally sucks. I'm probably most upset about my mp3 player...because even though it came free with my computer and was really the lowliest of the low in terms of electronic music devices, I still liked having it. Now I'm actually going to have to buy an ipod, and I don't really have the money for that, having to save if I want to buy stuff at animethon as well as textbooks when school rolls around. So yeah, not exactly pleased at the moment. My Dad's gonna go to the police after work, and hopefully something will happen. I don't expect totally recovery of all things lost, I just want justice served. For us,and our neighbors, who were also robbed.
I don't think I've ever expierienced a real theft like this that effects me. It really sucks. Now I'm really glad I didn't have my cellphone with me at the concert.

I was going to post my Gintama review, but I think I'll wait for a bit. I just need to stew on this for a bit. It just...sucks.

So I finished Torchwood Series Two today. All that's really left is the Declassifieds, and then it's on to Corner Gas Season 1 (as I could use a laugh after the dramafest that was the finale was).

Oh...Not Excalibur? ).

Next up for review: Gintama. I've almost caught up to it.

Gonna go glare at my Big Bang Project now. Hopefully, that will frighten it into writing itself.

...I need a Torchwood icon.

-Golden Sun is being released for the DS.

I think I might be more excited for that than Kingdom Hearts.

-You know what sucks? Having a bruised knee. Seriously, I've had a blue knee for a week now. I can walk on it, but it hurts whenever I touch it. Which is a lot more often than you would think. (Bend my knee to sit down, touches the fabric of my pants, brush my knee on the table leg, etc.)

-I have recently become daunted with the knowledge that I am writing the origins of a 2000-year old romance. And I'm kind of nervous about it. Damn it, I want to go on and get to the stuff I want to write, but the Saul/Ellen stuff is really important to, and I hate writing stuff out of order, because I know I have trouble going back to it. Stupid writer's block. Which would be good episodes to watch for Saul/Ellen interaction? Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down...

-I'm almost done Torchwood. Just in time for the miniseries thats apparently airing in July, if I'm to believe the trailer I saw on Space. Kind of exciting that I get to watch something when it premiers, if I'm around. Usually I have to catch up with the DVDs, or the show's already over.

-The work situation seems to have resolved itself. I've gotten more hours, and even though it means that I'm working 5 days in a row, it shouldn't be that bad. Most of them are closing shifts after all. Still, money is money. Which is always good.

-The Tonys are really classy, you know? I can't look away. I should probably be in bed, but I'm not. because they are so much fun. Not that I have seen any of the musicals and really don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. Neil Patrick Harris is singing the closing number. I am entertained.

I wish I could do musical theatre. But I'm probably not a Broadway Person (It is difficult for me to sing and dance at the same time, and I don't always need people. :P I do knew a few Jews though, so I might succeed).

Just one of the yearly traditions that I have with my Mom. We usually watch the Tonys together.  I kinda want to see that Rock of Ages show. Or Jersey Boys, because the music is really good. Billy Elliot: The Musical looked deserving of it's win for Best Musical. But like I said, I don't really pay attention to Broadway, except when I watch the Tonys.

I'm going to go to bed now.

-It's coming together nicely. I have an outlined plot. I know where I'm going. And I feel a lot better about it now because I know it's not going to conflict with the Comic, which has decided that it is 100% pure crack.

-Still, using Song lyrics as chapter titles is only going to get me into trouble, isn't it?

-I've arbitrarily decided that Samuel T. Anders's middle name is Timothy. Any objections?

That is all. I need sleep.

-So, yeah. I beat Pokemon Platinum last night.  Megan vs. The Elite 4 Round 3 turned out to be the charm. Granted, it did take two runs at the Champion to do it. Stupid Lucario. Anyways, now I've unlocked all the pretty sidequests and the National Dex so it's onwards and upwards in the game.

On the main part of the game:
Platinum, and by extension Diamond, were pretty much what I expected. Your typical pokemon game. Catch pokemon, beat the gym leaders, save the world. I enjoy the mindlessness of it. I really enjoyed the added cutscenes with Team Galactic in Platinum, since it added a lot more to the story. The villains were actually developing, and there was more of a relationship with the Champion, Cynthia. Still, they could have done more with the characters of Looker, Charon, and Pluto. It was still fun though, and very challenging.

Now...if only they could release Soul Silver. Now.

-358/2 Days. September 29th. Three days after my birthday.  Hell. Yes. I'veonly been waiting, like, 2 years for this annoucement.  I am totally expecting a delay (since it is Square Enix), but still. IT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN! THE GAME I HAVE LONGED FOR! THAT STARS ROXAS!!! YES!!!!! /end fangirl.

-Work situation has hopefully been resolved. I went in to talk to my supervisor today, and she said she would do her best. So hopefully, that means I'll at least be getting more than one four hour shift. I apparently was mistaken for a high school student. I can see how that happened, but still. At least she said grade 12 and not younger. Things are looking up though, but I'll keep looking for another job just in case. It may be time to make a grand return to the library.

And that's about all for me. For now.

Megan

-Work continues to be unresponsive to my demands for more hours. A four-hour shift once a week does not cut it, damn it! Extra hours or no. I mean, I have a right to know if there is a problem or something. Or if that is really the only shift that I can be given. I shall be responding with a sternly worded note since emails don't seem to working. And redoubling my efforts to find a new job.  The government is being just as unresponsive. This is really starting to get on my nerves. /end redudant rant.

-My Mom and I caught a mouse today. This morning, my mom opened the cuttlery drawer, and out drops a mouse onto her foot. So she lays a trap, and then leaves to go to work. I'm sitting there, minding my own business and watching Torchwood, when I hear a snap. I pause the dvd, grab the broom just in case, and sure enough, there is a mouse, in the trap. My dog, being afraid of mice, was no where to be seen. I dithered for a bit, wondering what I should do about it, and finally disposed of it. It was kind of gross.

-Even more gross was the fact that I had a big-ass bee in my room today. I don't know how a bee got down to my room in the basement and I don't want to know. And if there are more, they had better stay the frak away. I had to get my Dad to kill it. Only fair, I think, since I dealt with the mouse corpse. I don't like having creepy crawly stuff in my room!

-At least I didn't see anything while I was cleaning today. Except for the 5 kajillion Family Guy dvds that we own. There are dvds without boxes and boxes without dvds, and for some reason that's beyond me we have two copies of volume 3 and volume 5. I blame my Dad and Brother. The most I like of Family Guy is Blue Harvest, because it's a Star Wars parody.  I also managed to find my Torchwood series one dvds, but alas, I lack space for them in my room.

/end ranty entry.

-In a slightly more positive note, I finished the Yoshiwara is Burning Arc in Gintama. IE: The amazing intense arc that I've been raving about? Yeah, it was good. I love that show. But now it will go back to the usual fare of comedy and parody. I foresee a Dragonball parody in my near future. The next intense arc probably won't show up for a while.

-Gintama...why can't you be this intense all the time? Like seriously, I haven't gotten this excited over an anime since I watched the Benizakura Arc (same show). This is the thrill I have been seeking! Damn, why don't they make animes like this anymore? Combining comedy with action-packed fight scenes? Best anime ever.

-It looks like I'm getting more hours at work again, which is good. They call me in for extra shifts, which I don't mind, Since I can always use the money. Still, 10-4 shift tomorrow. Not exactly thrilled, since the bakers will still be going, and the Air conditioning in the store is broken. Opening both doors usually works, but still.

-I can has Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days now please? Please? I've been waiting for this game for like...two years. Although, knowing Square Enix, we probably won't get it for another year. Still, pretty opening video. For a guy recording it off his DS with a camera. I want my roxas-game please.

-I've decided I need to see Star Trek again. Don't know how exactly, but it's going to happen. I've found myself growing more and more partial to the original series, since it airs on Space and I kinda flip between it and Torchwood. Once you get past the cheezyness, it's not bad. *continues contemplation of apping Sulu or Chekov at <lj user=plutoix>*

-Work is bugging me. Mainly because I'm not working. I'm being given the bare minimum of hours it seems, and while I am available to be called in, it just seems kind of ridiculous. I'm not at school, I've got more free time than I need, the high school students are getting more hours than I am and they still have school. I need the money. How else am I supposed to pay for textbooks? I've resorted to cleaning the house because there isn't a whole lot else I can do. The once-a-week four hour shift was fine when I was at school, but now? Not so much. And I don't want to quit because I doubt I'll be able to find another job, seeing as though I'll have to compete with everyone else once they get out of school.
Once again I've asked for more hours, so we'll see what happens. If there is a problem, I think I deserve to know about it.
Stupid Government website doesn't make any sense.
/end rant. I could rant further, but I'll spare you my sufferings.

-Oh Torchwood, I have missed you. Way to start off the second series, with a blowfish driving a sportscar. Good times.

-And now onto the true purpose of this entry. I've complied a timeline for my fic and I just need a second opinion to see if it makes sense in accordance with the BSG Canon. Some of this is headcanon or influenced by the Final Five comic, and is divided into sections for organization.

-So, I'm home safe and sound. Trip went rather smoothly, except for the fact that I had to get up at 6. The flights weren't toobad either, The first one we were on, from Baltimore to Chicago, was playing The Office, so that kept me occupied for an hour. Chicago to Edmonton was just really long, but on the plus side I did finish two of the books I brought and managed to figure out where my Bigbang project is going. Sort of.

-We wandered around Washington D.C. before the concert, because that's where it was. The National Mall is huge. And the Lincoln Memorial is quite spectacular. I wish that we had had more than a day, so that I could explore the Smithsonian with a bit more depth. We only got to the museum of Air and Space.

-The concert last night was AMAZING! Bruce was late, like usual, but when they finally came on stage, they just broke into Badlands and then went straight into No Surrender, and it kept going from there. He did a version of The Wrestler which was just beautiful. And I liked the requests he chose to do. Out in the Street and Blinded By the Light were great. Boss concerts are just so much fun. The only thing I regret is that he didn't do Thunder Road, and he always seems to do it the concert before the one I attend. Still, I'd go again. Even if it means following him all the way to Europe to do it. And my Dad managed to get his information wrong, stating that neither Patti Scalfa (Bruce's wife) or Max Weinberg (The drummer) would be in attendence. They were both there. It was great.

-100books needed an update.

In which I ramble about what I've read )

-My Bigbang project is officially underway. I finally settled on writing a Final Five Origin story. I managed to get a rough outline today on the plane, and was working out various ideas throughout my trip. One of the things that I love about BSG is that the main theme is "all of this has happened before, all of this will happen again" so I basically have a bunch of templates, and I get to show the before part. It worked out rather nicely.
The only problem I've run into is one idea. We know that Cavil was created in Ellen's father's image, so I figured, could that be true for the other human models. So I've created a bunch of characters that will be the templates for the human models, and they'll interact with the Five. My issue? I like them too much. But they have to die because of the canon. I've barely written anything, and I'm balking at killing characters already. So it's not a huge problem, it's more of an aversion.

-I finally got around to watching the season finale of The Office, which I somehow managed to miss on Thursday. That was a good episode. I liked the end. I still think that it's getting stale though. The prank at the begining was amazing.

-I've developed an obsession with the song Spaceman by The Killers. I borrowed my brother's ipod on the way to the airport, and listened to it like 5 times. I don't know what it is about it, but I really really like it.

-And now I'm going to watch anime and relax.

-Flying off to my Cousin's wedding tomorrow morning, and according to my father, we have to leave the house by 5AM. Not fun, but I am looking forward to seeing that side of my family again. They live across the country, so it doesn't happen that often.
And then I fly down to Washington D.C to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in concert once again. Frakking excited for that.

-In other news, it has apparently been announced that a remake for the second-generation of Pokemon games, known as Gold, Silver, and Crystal, has been given the go ahead for the DS. Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I am so freaking excited. Silver is one of my favorite games and I seriously loved my game to death (quite literally, the game glitched, or something, and I lost everything.)  And Megan's quiet Pokemon obsession makes itself known again.

-Along those lines, I took a peek at my old Pokemon Sapphire game, and I think I have been spoiled by the prettyness of the DS because it looked really cheesy. Like REALLY cheesy. Same with Leafgreen. Oh what a difference in graphics makes.

-I have yet to decide whether I am crazy or insane, but I signed up for the [info]bsg_bigbang challenge. We'll be seeing where this goes. I guess I'll take this weekend to fine tune an idea...

-And that's about all from me until the 19th. Alphabet meme from a few entries back is still open. If anyone's interested.
